Care Tips for Our Ceramic Tableware

We take pride in offering high-quality ceramics and porcelain tableware that are not only beautiful, but also durable.

To ensure that your new pieces stay looking their best for as long as possible, we've compiled some tips on how to care for them.

Due to the characteristics of the raw materials used to make pottery, the surface glaze layer contains fine pores, and earthenware pottery is prone to water absorption.

Before first use

  1. Soak the pottery in rice water, making sure to completely cover it. This helps prevent stains and water leakage. If you don't have rice water, you may also use 2 tablespoons of flour or potato starch mixed with some water as a substitute.
  2. Boil the rice water for about 5 minutes. Then, turn off the heat, and let it cool down. After it cools, wash the pottery with soap and water, and air dry it.

*Note that for some types of porcelain or half-porcelain pottery, the rice water step may not be necessary.

Before placing food on your pottery

Even though the pores on pottery and half-porcelain ware are difficult to see, they are still present. If sauce or large amounts of oil are left to sit and dry, they may leave stains.

To prevent this, soak the pottery in water for five minutes before placing oily or dark-colored foods on it. This also helps prevent stains and odors from lingering.

After use

Wash the pottery immediately after use with a soft sponge and dish soap, then rinse it thoroughly.
Let it dry completely before putting it away in the cupboard. If it doesn't dry completely, mould and odor may appear.

Avoid soaking the pottery for a long time, as it is highly absorbent and may absorb dirt, bacteria, and stains.

We hope these care tips will help you keep your ceramic tableware looking beautiful and lasting for years to come, so that you can enjoy using them for many memorable meals to come.
